The Learner Journey – How Wrexham University involved students in their Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experience (TrACE) journey
ACE Hub Wales is delighted to be collaborating with Wrexham University to bring you this discussion. In this first episode, we sit down with Cathy Simon and Deb Robert from Wrexham University to hear about their inspiring work engaging learners in the TrACE journey. They share how their students are taking an active role in promoting trauma-informed principles across the university, through the creation of TrACE Champions who are active at Fresher’s Fairs to promote and inform others about this approach, and advising and informing the development of TrACE so it is inclusive of everyone’s experience in the university.
This episode is particularly useful for those working in Further Education as it considers how to involve and include learners in their TrACE journey, but it also explores the broader impact of trauma-informed approaches, discussing how these principles can be applied across various sectors and the importance of creating safe, supportive environments. Wherever you work, if you are looking to involve people who access your service, or wider members of your community in your TrACE approach, this episode offers valuable insights. Listen in to discover how you can be part of the movement towards building a trauma-informed nation.
